Report: Wychek ponders future

NASHVILLE, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Veteran tight end Frank Wychek of Tennessee is trying to assess his health.

After suffering his second concussion in nine months in a preseason game against Buffalo on Aug. 16, Wychek is planning to get opinions about his brain.

The Tennesseean has reported that he met with a head specialist in Houston, and will be talking with a number of athletes whose careers were cut short by numerous concussions, including former NFL quarterbacks Steve Young and Troy Aikman.

"I just think with the injury and where it's at, it's the brain, you have to get as much information as you can on it," Wycheck told the paper. ''I'm not necessarily looking to make a drastic decision whether I'm ever going to play again, but you want to find out more things, and the more opinions you get the better off you'll be."

Wychek, originally drafted by Washington out of Maryland in the sixth round in 1993, has 488 career receptions.
