Kung keeps LPGA lead

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Candie Kung shot a 5-under-par 67 Friday to extend her lead to four strokes midway through the State Farm Classic.

Coming off her second title of the season at last week's Wachovia LPGA Classic, Kung opened with consecutive bogeys. But she recovered with seven birdies over the final 15 holes to reach 13-under 131.

Kung is trying to join Annika Sorenstam and Rachel Teske as the only players to win consecutive events this season.

Korea's Hee-Won Han was tied with Jennifer Rosales of the Philippines at 9-under 135 after matching Kung's 67. Han has been nearly as hot as Kung with two wins in the last six weeks.

Former champion Rosie Jones climbed into contention with a 65 and is tied for fourth with Jenna Daniels at 8-under.

It was another shot back to England's Laura Davies, Pat Hurst and Sweden's Eva Dahllof.
