PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- The struggling Philadelphia Phillies have made a host of roster moves, including placing reliever Terry Adams on the 15-day disabled list.

Adams has a strained left oblique muscle.

The Phillies also have placed reliever Mike Williams on the bereavement list and purchased the contract of righthanders Brandon Duckworth and Geoff Geary from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre of the International League.

In 65 games this season, Adams is 1-4 with a 2.69 ERA.

Williams has been a major disappointment since being acquired from Pittsburgh in July, posting an 0-3 record with a 4.96 ERA in 18 games.

Williams left the team early Wednesday morning to attend to a family medical matter. He will miss three to 10 days.

Duckworth, demoted to Scranton earlier this month, was 4-7 with a 5.08 ERA in 18 starts earlier in the season.

Geary, 26, was 9-4 with a 2.16 ERA in 46 games, including three starts.
