PARIS, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Even though American sprinter Jon Drummond voluntarily withdrew from the World Track and Field Championships, he still faces possible disciplinary action.

Drummond caused a sensation in his 100-meter second-round heat Sunday night when he refused to leave the track after being disqualified for a second false start.

On Thursday, the International Association of Athletic Federations' (IAAF) council announced it still was demanding a full report from the U.S. governing body on Drummond's behavior.

After his disqualification, Drummond argued with officials. At one point, he sprawled on the track, holding up the meet.

Claiming his spirit had been broken, Drummond withdrew from the championships and flew home two days after the incident, further weakening the U.S. 4x100 meter relay team already deprived of injured Olympic champion Maurice Greene.
