Montreal 14, Philadelphia 10

MONTREAL, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Todd Zeile capped a seven-run seventh inning with an RBI single Tuesday as Montreal overcame a huge defict en route to a 14-10 victory over Philadelphia.

The Expos overcame an 8-0 deficit after 4 1/2 innings to pull within two games of Philadelphia and Florida in the National League wild card race.

It was the Expos' biggest comeback since they rallied from an 11-2 deficit for a 14-13 win over San Francisco on May 16, 1997.

The Expos provided plenty of fireworks against the Phillies' bullpen in the seventh inning, when they sent 11 batters to the plate against four pitchers.

Zeile, who was signed last week after being released by the New York Yankees, started the uprising with a single off Terry Adams and his base hit off ineffective Mike Williams snapped a 10-10 tie.
