Cleveland 75, Charlotte 66

CLEVELAND, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Chasity Melvin collected 22 points and 11 rebounds Monday as Cleveland secured a postseason WNBA berth with a 75-66 victory over Charlotte.

Cleveland reached the playoffs for the fourth time in team history and the third time in four seasons. The Rockers went 11-6 at home.

Penny Taylor scored 16 points and LaToya Thomas added 14 for Cleveland, which led by as many as 16 points before holding off a late rally by the Sting.

Thomas scored six points and Taylor added four in a 15-5 spurt that opened the second half and built a 50-35 edge with 14:31 remaining. The Rockers opened their largest lead, 59-43, on a jumper by Betty Lennox with 9:35 to play.

Tammy Sutton-Brown scored 13 points and Allison Feaster added 10 for Charlotte.
