MONTREAL, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Mexico's Michel Jourdain used perfect race strategy Sunday to steal a victory at the Champ Car World Series Molson Indy Montreal.

Jourdain claimed his second career victory in Montreal after using a series of stoppages to gain the lead and saving his fuel for a fast finish. He beat Spaniard Oriol Servia by 1.277 seconds, with Canadian Patrick Carpentier third.

Montreal native Alex Tagliani looked on his way to his first career win. Starting the 75-lap event from the pole, he went out strong but lost the lead to Jourdain after his third pit stop on lap 58.

Jourdain started from the fifth spot and moved to third behind Tagliani and Servia at the first pit stop. He passed Servia on cold tires and made his move at the third round of pit stops, taking the lead for the final time on lap 60.
