UNCASVILLE, Conn., Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Katie Douglas scored 21 points Friday night, including the go-ahead jumper, as Connecticut defeated Charlotte, 63-55.
Nykesha Sales added 15 points and Taj McWilliams-Franklin 13 for Connecticut, which temporarily moved into a three-way tie for third place in the Eastern Conference, one game behind second-place Charlotte.

Only first-place Detroit has clinched a playoff spot in the East. Four teams make it into the postseason.
The game was tied at 54-54 before Douglas made a jumper with 3 1/2 minutes remaining to start a 9-1 run that closed the game. Douglas added three of four free throws down the stretch.
Shalonda Enis scored 17 points to pace Charlotte but had only three after halftime.
