Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NAPERVILLE, Ill., Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Midfielder Orlando Perez scored in the second half Wednesday night and Chicago kept Los Angeles winless on the road with a 1-0 victory.
Los Angeles set a team mark for shots allowed as Kevin Hartman faced 23 and made a club-record 12 saves.
Chicago finally broke through in the 73rd minute. Perez carried wide on the left side and took advantage of aggressive defending by Tyrone Marshall before slipping a shot past Hartman for his second goal of the season.
As Marshall changed out to challenge an expected cross, he left his feet. Perez touched the ball inside, then flashed a low shot through traffic that appeared to deflect by a diving Hartman.
