Friday's NFL Exhibition Roundup

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Tight end Jeremy Shockey of the New York Giants may miss the rest of the preseason because of a cracked rib suffered Friday night against Carolina.

Shockey suffered the injury on a hit by Panthers' cornerback Terry Cousin.

"He's sore," said Coach Jim Fassel, "(but) he could probably play this week if it were a regular season game."

Shockey made headlines recently with controversial comments, appearing in New York Magazine, about former Giants coach Bill Parcells, referring to him as a "homo." He apologized, saying the comments were "thoughtless and immature."

The Giants play the New York Jets next weekend and Baltimore in their final preseason game before hosting St. Louis in the regular season opener on Sept. 7.

Elsewhere, it was Jacksonville 27, Miami 23; Dallas 34, Houston 6; Green Bay 38, Cleveland 31; and Indianapolis 21, Seattle 7.
