ATLANTA, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Curt Schilling pitched eight scoreless innings and Alex Cintron hit a solo home run Sunday as Arizona blanked Atlanta, 2-0.

With the Braves averaging nearly seven runs per game since the All-Star break, and posting 10 in each of the first two contests of this four-game series, Arizona needed a strong performance from Schilling. The righthander allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out 12.

It was the 84th career double-digit strikeout game for Schilling (7-6), who retired 13 straight after Marcus Giles' one-out double in the first inning. Schilling, who has 23 strikeouts in his last two starts, moved past Don Drysdale into 25th place on the all-time list with 2,494.

Cintron posted his third consecutive multi-hit game, including his 10th homer in the seventh.

Greg Maddux (11-10) yielded a run and seven hits in eight innings.
