USA adds to swimming gold

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- American swimmers captured four gold medals and set two more Pan Am Games records Friday night.

The United States has won 18 gold medals and 37 overall through five days of swimming competition.

Michael Raab and Peter Marshall captured gold and bronze medals in the men's 100-meter backstroke.

Rabb, who won the gold in the 200 butterfly, lowered his Pan American record to 1:57.33.

The American team of Diana MacManus, Staciana Stitts, Dana Vollmer and Amanda Weir easily captured the women's 400 medley relay in 4:05.92.

Morgan Hentzen and Rachael Burke of the United States finished 1-2 in the women's 800 freestyle.
