EAST RUTHERFORD, N.Y., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- A 43-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the second by Mike Minter Friday night sparked Carolina to a 20-10 win over the New York Giants.

John Kasay also kicked field goals of 22 and 31 yards for the Panthers in the second period and Rod Smart added a one-yard score in the third.

Minter picked up a fumble by quarterback Kerry Collins and went the distance. Collins coughed up the ball when he was hit by blitzing linebacker Will Witherspoon.
