Tomlinson gives Chargers a scare

CARLSBAD, Calif., Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Veteran running back LaDainian Tomlinson of San Diego expects to play Saturday night in the team's preseason opener against Arizona.

Tomlinson left practice Thursday because of systems caused by dehydration. After taking lots of fluids, resting, and getting an IV, he rejoined the team for the afternoon session and watched from the sidelines.

"I just got a little overheated and dehydrated a little bit," he said. "I had to get some IVs in me, but I feel fine and I feel pretty good now. I've been going pretty hard the last couple of days, running a lot and working really hard. I don't think I've done a good enough job of putting fluids back into my body. So it's a little bit my fault."

Tomlinson was expected back on the practice field Friday for a walk-through before the contest against the Cardinals.
