Cowboys ink Murrell

IRVING, Texas, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- The Dallas Cowboys have signed veteran running back Adrian Murrell, who has spent most of his NFL career with the New York Jets.

Murrell, who has been out of the game for two years, is trying to get back into game-shape, and likely will not play Friday night against the Houston Texans.

""My legs were a little heavy yesterday," Murrell said after Thursday's practice. "I could see the reads and break I should make, but legs just couldn't respond the way I wanted them to. I'm just trying to get back into playing shape."

With the Cowboys, he is re-uniting with Coach Bill Parcells.

"He had good running skill and real good quickness when he was young," Parcells said of Murrell.

In his nine years, Murrell, who has played for Arizona and Washington, has 5,082 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns in 119 games. He played for Parcells in 1997, and has gained 1,000 yards three times.
