Play goes on at PGA Championship

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Aug. 14 (UPI) -- The PGA Championship went on Thursday despite the power outage that affected millions of people.

Half the field had completed play when the power failure hit shortly after 4 p.m. EDT. The other half was on the Oak Hill Country Club course and although the lights went out in the clubhouse and media center, there was no delay in the action.

Power was slowly restored at the course.

"We are out there in our own little world," said Rocco Mediate, who shot a first-round 72. "I didn't even know about it."
