DETROIT, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Corey Koskie and Dustan Mohr each drove in two in a four-run first inning Sunday afternoon as Minnesota shaded Detroit, 4-3, completing a three-game sweep.
It was the Twins' third sweep of Tigers this season.
In the big first inning, hit a two-run double off Detroit starter Nate Cornejo (5-11) and Mohr drilled a two-run single.
After allowing five hits and all four runs in the first, Cornejo held Minnesota to four hits thereafter for his first complete game of the season. He retired 14 straight batters between the second and seventh innings, but lost his third straight start.
Kenny Rogers (9-6) allowed three runs and six hits in seven innings, striking out seven and walking one, to earn the win. Eddie Guardado pitched the ninth for his 27th save.
The Twins improved to 11-1 against the Tigers this season and have won 20 of the last 21 meetings between the two teams. They have won 11 in a row at Detroit.
