MILWAUKEE, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- A leadoff home run by John Vander Wal in the bottom of the seventh inning Sunday afternoon game Milwaukee a 5-4 win over the red-hot Florida Marlins.

Vander Wal's homer off Brad Penny (10-9) gave the Brewers a 4-3 lead. They added an insurance run in the frame on an RBI single by pinch hitter Brady Clark.

Valerio De Los Santos (2-3) tossed a scoreless seventh in relief of starter Matt Kinney to record the win.

Mike DeJean gave up a solo homer to Mike Lowell in the eighth, but Dan Kolb pitched a scoreless ninth for his sixth save.

Milwaukee salvaged the final game of the three-game series, handing the Marlins just their fifth loss in 19 tries.
