Miami inks two

MIAMI, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- The Miami Heat Friday added depth to their frontcourt by signing free agents center Loren Woods and forward John Wallace.

The 6-10 Wallace returns to the NBA after spending the 2002-03 season in Greece. During the FIBA Champions Cup, he averaged 15.0 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest. Most recently, Wallace played five games for the Minnesota Timberwolves entry in the summer league in Orlando and averaged 14.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in 25 minutes per game.

The first-round pick of the New York Knicks in 1996 has also played for Toronto (1997-99), Detroit (2000-01), and Phoenix (2001-02), averaging 8.0 points and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 46 percent from the field.

The 7-1 Woods played sparingly in his first two seasons with the Timberwolves, averaging 1.9 points and 2.2 rebounds in 98 games.
