Jaguars recovering from latest incident

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 7 (UPI) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars were reeling Thursday after a third heat-related incident at training camp late Wednesday afternoon.

Wide receiver Donald Hayes was rushed to Baptist Medical Center after receiving treatment on the practice field from team trainer Mike Ryan. This incident was a bit puzzling because it happened in mild temperatures, unlike earlier incidents involving linemen John Henderson and Larry Smith.

"Mike and his staff responded to Donald struggling with the heat so they went into their mode of taking care of him," said Coach Jack Del Rio. "They were doing that scene we've seen a couple of times out there. I don't have an answer for it. I don't know what else to tell you other than the medical staff is responding to it."

The Florida Times-Union reported Thursday that Smith was not yet cleared to practice until Tuesday night and was criticized by Del Rio for coming to camp out of shape.
