Royals put Snyder on DL

CHICAGO, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- The Kansas City Royals Wednesday placed pitcher Kyle Snyder back on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder stiffness.

Snyder left Tuesday's start against the Chicago White Sox after two innings because of the same injury. He allowed five runs and five hits in a 5-4 loss.

The 6-8 Snyder is 1-6 with a 5.17 ERA in 16 starts this season. He spent time on the DL from July 1-21 with a strained shoulder.

The Royals said they had planned to shut him down anyway once he reached 150 innings. Snyder, who has had two arm surgeries, was at 114-plus innings after Tuesday's game.

The Royals recalled reliever Nate Field from Triple-A Omaha of the Pacific Coast League to replace Snyder on the roster.

The Royals have starters Lima and Snyder and reliever Miguel Asencio all on the DL as they try to fend off the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. They lead the Sox by two games.
