Dougherty birdied the 18th hole to avoid a four-way tie for second. Luke Donald, Scotland's Andrew Coltart and Sweden's Robert Karlsson finished 8-under.

Scott, 23, earned just over $360,00 for the victory, and virtually assured himself a spot on the Presidents' Cup World team, which will square off against the United States in South Africa in November.

Scott had missed the cut in his previous three events since

finishing eighth in defense of his Scottish PGA Championship.

Scott started the day in a tie with Maarten Lafeber at 8-under.

Dougherty also finished second to Scott last year at Qatar.
