Texas 10, Seattle 1

SEATTLE, July 29 (UPI) -- Rafael Palmeiro homered twice, including his 11th career grand slam, and drove in a career-high seven runs Monday night as Texas routed Seattle, 10-1.

Also in the win, Joaquin Benoit allowed only two hits in seven scoreless innings.

Palmeiro's two home runs gave him 514 in his career and moved him two ahead of Hall of Famers Ernie Banks and Eddie Mathews and into 14th place on the all-time list. On Sunday, he moved past Banks into 19th place on the all-time RBI chart. His seven RBI Monday gave him 1,644, eight shy of Tony Perez for 18th.

Benoit (6-5), pitching on three days' rest, walked two and struck out seven.

Seattle starter Ryan Franklin (7-9), coming off a two-hit shutout in his last outing, was tagged for six runs and eight hits in six innings. He gave up homers to Palmeiro and Hank Blalock.
