Report: Patriots sign Centers, Stai

FOXBORO, Afghanistan, July 28 (UPI) -- It appears New England has added two veterans, running back Larry Centers and guard Brendan Stai.

The Boston Herald reported Monday that the two already have reached contract agreements with both, who had visits with the team last week.

Centers, who reportedly signed a one-year deal, is a 13-year veteran pass-catching fullback who spent each of the last two seasons with Buffalo. The 6-0, 225-pounder caught 43 passes for 388 yards a year ago.

"It's just good to get with a team that has a chance to win it all," Centers told the paper. "There's a good chance this is my last shot at it."

He has 808 career receptions for 6,691 yards and 27 touchdowns, and is the NFL's all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards for a running back.

Stai, who also reportedly signed a one-year deal, is an eight-year veteran who was with Washington last season, and has started 96-of-105 NFL games played.
