WASHINGTON, July 24 (UPI) -- Tamika Catchings scored 29 points and Natalie Williams added 16 Thursday night as Indiana held on for an 80-75 victory over Washington.
The Fever never trailed in the second half but needed clutch free-throw shooting from Stephanie White, who scored 15 points, to nail down their fourth consecutive victory over the Mystics.
Indiana scored nine consecutive points and took its largest lead at 61-49 on a jumper by Catchings with 7:57 remaining. Washington climbed within 72-71 on a jumper by Murriel Page with 83 seconds to go, but Catchings answered with a layup 23 seconds later.
White made six free throws in the final 44 seconds and finished eight of nine from the line. Williams made eight of eight free throws as the Fever went 27 of 31 from the stripe.
