Neagle back on DL

DENVER, July 23 (UPI) -- The Colorado Rockies have placed lefthander Denny Neagle back on the 15-day disabled with inflammation in his pitching elbow.

It is the second stint on the DL for Neagle, who was sidelined with the same injury before he returned to make his season debut on June 17. The latest trip is retroactive to Monday.

"His opportunity to pitch again this season is in jeopardy right now," said Manager Clint Hurdle.

Neagle, 34, has struggled in seven starts this season, posting a 2-4 record with a 7.90 ERA. The veteran has been hit hard, surrendering 47 hits in 35 1/3 innings.

He went 8-11 with a 5.26 ERA in 35 games, including 28 starts last season. He is 19-23 in two seasons with the Rockies since signing a five-year contract.

The Rockies have recalled outfielder Rene Reyes from Triple-A Colorado Springs of the Pacific Coast League, where he was batting .343.
