LOS ANGELES, July 22 (UPI) -- Denny Stark pitched seven solid innings Monday night for his first win of the season as Colorado beat Los Angeles, 4-1.
Also for the Rockies, Bobby Estalella had two hits, including a home run, as they halted a five-game losing streak.
Entering the contest with a 2-0 record and 1.69 ERA in five career appearances against Los Angeles, Stark (1-0) allowed one run and four hits with a walk and two strikeouts. The righthander has yielded just run in 15 innings at Dodger Stadium.
It was Stark's first win in four tries this season after missing the first three months with a strained muscle in his upper back.
Andy Ashby (2-7) was unimpressive, giving up four runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings. He also hit a batter and uncorked a wild pitch, walked two and struck out three.
Shawn Green homered for the Dodgers, who have dropped three straight.
