
MINNEAPOLIS, July 21 (UPI) -- Chris Gomez had three hits and singled in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth Monday as Minnesota beat Seattle, 5-4.
Minnesota lost eight straight heading into the All-Star break but has not lost since.
The Twins squandered a 4-0 lead in the seventh inning as Mark McLemore delivered a two-out two run double off starter Kyle Lohse and reliever LaTroy Hawkins surrendered three straight hits, including a single to Randy Winn that knotted it.
Lohse gave up three runs and six hits but remained winless in his last seven starts.
Shannon Stewart had two hits and scored a run for Minnesota, which climbed within six games of first-place Kansas City in the American League Central.
Willie Bloomquist had two hits and a run scored for the Mariners, who have lost three straight.
