SAN FRANCISCO, July 21 (UPI) -- Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Junior Spivey, who missed five weeks with a sprained ankle, was activated Monday from the disabled list.

Spivey has not played since June 14, when he was injured while running out a grounder in the sixth inning of a 9-2 interleague rout of the Minnesota Twins.

Spivey is hitting .255 with nine home runs and 30 RBI in 57 games, but Arizona thrived without him, going 22-9. Second baseman Matt Kata, who was recalled from the minors when Spivey went on the DL, is batting .315 with five homers and 12 RBI in 27 games.
