NASHVILLE, July 14 (UPI) -- Nashville obtained right wing Mike Farrell from Washington Capitals Monday and signed unrestricted free agent center-left wing Ben Simon.
To get Farrell, who played 12 games with Washington over the past two seasons, the Predators sent defenseman Alexander Riazantsev to the Capitals.
The 24-year-old Farrell had 12 goals and 12 assists in 68 games last season with Portland of the American Hockey League. A 1998 eighth-round draft pick, he has yet to register a point in the NHL.
Riazantsev, 23, also spent last season in the AHL and had eight goals and 14 assists in 71 games with Milwaukee.
Simon, 25, had an assist in 10 games with the Atlanta Thrashers, spending most of the 2002-03 campaign in the AHL. The Ohio native had 15 goals and 17 assists in 69 games with the Chicago Wolves.
