St, Louis 9, San Diego 7 (11 innings)

ST. LOUIS, July 13 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols' home run in the bottom of the 11th inning Saturday gave St. Louis Cardinals a 9-7 victory over the San Diego Padres.

St. Louis stranded two baserunners in the bottom of the ninth and in the 10th. J.D. Drew led off the 11th for the Cardinals with a single and then Pujols hit his 27th homer.

San Diego had come from behind to tie the game 7-7 in the ninth.

Jason Simontacchi (7-4) was the winning pitcher, working just two innings.
