HAPERVILLE, Ill., July 12 (UPI) -- Hristo Stoitchkov set up both goals as D.C. United rallied for a 2-1 victory Saturday to hand the Chicago Fire their first home loss of the season.
Chicago had been the lone unbeaten home team in MLS but fell to 0-2-3 in its last five matches with D.C., which has won two in a row on the road.
Stoitchkov curled a cross into the box in the ninth minute and Galin Ivanov headed it past goalkeeper Zach Thornton to forge a 1-1 tie. Ivanov's first goal of the season came three minutes after midfielder Jesse Marsch struck for the Fire.
Making his fifth start of the season, Stoitchkov again used his left foot to drive a ball from the left side to the far goalpost. Midfielder Ben Olsen beat defender Kelly Gray to the ball and headed it back across the goalpost and past Thornton for his first goal of the season.
