Medina Garrigues reaches Palermo semis

PALERMO, Italy, July 11 (UPI) -- Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain moved into the semifinals of the Palermo Open Friday and continued her comeback from a knee injury.

Medina Garrigues rallied past eighth-seeded Virginie Razzano of France, 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3), knocking off a seed for the second straight match.

Last year, Medina Garrigues suffered a torn ACL in the Australian Open. She has been inconsistent since her return, reaching the final at Bogota in February but suffering a handful of first-round losses.

In the second round, Medina Garrigues eliminated second seed Denisa Chladkova. Her only career WTA title came at this event in 2001.

Medina Garrigues gets another seed in the semifinals in No. 4 Katarina Srebotnik of Slovakia, who got past Yuliana Fedak of Ukraine, 7-5, 2-6, 6-1.
