OAKLAND, Calif., July 7 (UPI) -- Veteran outfielder Jermaine Dye has been lost to the Oakland Athletics 3-6 weeks because of a separated right shoulder.

The injury occurred Sunday when he collided with Anaheim catcher Bengie Molina at the plate.

"Obviously, he's depressed, and not pleased," said team trainer Larry Davis. "He's not a very happy camper at this point."

The injury comes in the midst of a very tough season for Dye, who spent over a month on the disabled list after having knee surgery in late April. He has batted just .160 in 42 games this season.

The 6-5, 220-pounder hit .252 with 24 home runs and 86 RBI last season.

The A's will need to make a roster move for replace him, something Manager Ken Macha said would happen by Tuesday.
