SAN DIEGO, July 6 (UPI) -- Kevin Jarvis gave up just three hits in 7 1/3 innings Saturday as San Diego beat the San Francisco Giants 5-2.

Jarvis (1-2) got his first win since May of 2002. He struck out four and walked four. Relievers Jay Witsasick and Rod Beck preserved the win, with Beck getting his seventh save.

In the ninth, the Giants got Barry Bonds to the plate as the potential tying run but Beck struck him out.

San Francisco's Jason Schmidt (8-4) was the loser, allowing four runs and seven hits in seven innings.
