San Francisco 8, San Diego 6

SAN DIEGO, July 5 (UPI) -- Barry Bonds capped a five-run fourth inning with a two-run homer Friday night as San Francisco held on for an 8-6 victory over San Diego.

Marquis Grissom added three hits for the Giants.

In a career filled with remarkable statistics, Bonds especially has tortured San Diego. His two-run blast gave him 73 career homers against the Padres, including 39 at Qualcomm Stadium -- both records for a San Diego opponent.

Bonds also reached another milestone in the ninth inning, when he drew his 2,000th career walk.

San Francisco forged a 4-4 tie on a two-run triple by Ray Durham in the fifth inning. Durham scored on J.T. Snow's grounder and Grissom singled before Bonds drove a 1-2 pitch over the right field wall for his 25th homer of the season.
