Tampa Bay 4, Chi. White Sox 3

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 4 (UPI) -- Billy Koch surrendered a three-run homer to Carl Crawford in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday to give Tampa Bay a 4-3 win over Chicago.

Koch (5-5) blew his fourth save in 15 chances and saw his ERA rise to 5.62. The veteran righthander has given up eight home runs in 37 1/3 innings this season.

After Jason Tyner struck out to start the ninth, Koch walked Jose Valentin and gave up a single to pinch hitter Al Martin. Crawford followed by blasting an 0-1 pitch into the right field seats.

Roberto Alomar, who scored the winning run Wednesday in his debut with the White Sox, drove in two runs.

Alomar, acquired from the New York Mets on Tuesday for three minor leaguers, is three for eight in two games since being reunited with his brother, Sandy, Chicago's catcher.
