MIAMI, July 2 (UPI) -- Florida Marlins third baseman Mike Lowell is no longer trade bait.

Lowell, whose name has been prominent in trade rumors, learned before a 20-1 rout of Atlanta on Tuesday night that he has been taken off the trading block.

"I've said all along that this is my team and I want to be a part of it," Lowell said. "It's nice to just put it to rest and get on with playing baseball."

"We told Mike he will not be traded this season," said Florida General Manager Larry Beinfest. "He will finish the season as a Florida Marlin. We look forward to having him represent us in the All-Star game."

Lowell, 29, is tied with Jim Edmonds of St. Louis for the National League lead in home runs with 25. The slugger is third in the NL in RBI with 68, and is batting .287.

The Marlins are 15-7 in games Lowell has hit a home run.
