Connecticut 64, Cleveland 57

UNCASVILLE, Conn., July 2 (UPI) -- Katie Douglas scored 23 points Wednesday night as Connecticut ended a three-game losing streak with a 64-57 victory over Cleveland.

Held scoreless in 17 minutes in Tuesday's blowout loss at New York, Douglas bounced back with 16 points in the second half. She made eight of 13 shots from the field, including a pair of key baskets during a 7-0 spurt that put Connecticut ahead, 58-51, with 4:31 remaining.

A 47 percent shooter from beyond the arc this season, the 6-foot Douglas started the spurt with a three-pointer and capped it with a layup.

Nykesha Sales added 13 points for the Sun, who shot 42 percent from the floor and made 10 of 13 free throws.

Chasity Melvin scored 17 points and rookie LaToya Thomas and Penny Taylor added 10 apiece for the Rockers, who have lost five straight on the road.
