AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 1 (UPI) -- Swin Cash scored 26 points Tuesday when Detroit set a WNBA scoring record enroute to its ninth win in 10 games, 99-88 over San Antonio.
The Shock rode the highest-scoring first half in league history to a 56-47 lead. They used an 8-0 run to overcome an early deficit, taking the lead for good at 38-36 on a layup by Elaine Powell with 5:21 left.
The previous record for a first half was 55 points, set last Aug. 4 by the Los Angeles Sparks in a 90-86 triumph over Utah, which moved to San Antonio prior to this season.
The Silver Stars climbed within 72-71 with 10:10 remaining on a three-point play by Marie Ferdinand.
Ferdinand and Adrienne Goodson established season highs with 26 and 22 points, respectively. But San Antonio lost its third straight and fell to 1-6 on the road.
