Three share LPGA lead

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J., June 27 (UPI) -- Kris Lindstrom, Angela Stanford and Laura Diaz all shot 65 Friday to share the first-round lead at the ShopRite LPGA Classic.

Defending champion Annika Sorenstam opened with a rocky 1-under 70 that left her tied for 38th. Michelle Wie, a 13-year-old coming off a win at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links, was another stroke back after recording 16 pars, a birdie and a bogey at the Seaview Marriott Resort Bay Course.

Lindstrom is playing just her third event of the year after missing the final six months last season due to neck and spinal injuries. She offset a lone bogey with seven birdies, shaving a stroke off the best round of her three-year career.

Stanford has just one top-10 finish in nine starts this year, but completed a bogey-free round to match the best score of her three-year career.
