PITTSBURGH, June 27 (UPI) -- The Colorado Rockies designated veteran reliever Todd Jones for assignment Friday among a host of roster moves.

The Rockies also optioned righthander Scott Elarton to Class AAA Colorado Springs of the Pacific Coast League, recalled catcher Ben Petrick from Colorado Springs, purchased the contract of righthander Matt Miller from Colorado Springs and sent infielder Brent Butler outright to their top minor league affiliate.

Jones, 35, has struggled this season, going 1-4 with an 8.24 ERA in 33 games. He made the first start of his 11-year career on June 7 against the Kansas City Royals.

Elarton, who missed all of last season due to shoulder problems, is 3-3 with a 6.81 ERA in seven games.
