WASHINGTON, June 24 (UPI) -- Taj McWilliams-Franklin made a layup at the buzzer Tuesday to give the Connecticut Sun a 65-63 triumph over the Washington Mystics.
The Sun opened a 63-57 lead with 16 seconds remaining when Nykesha Sales converted two free throws. But Mystics guard Coco Miller nailed a pair of 3-pointers eight seconds apart to tie it with 2.4 seconds left.
Off a feed from Katie Douglas, the 6-2 McWilliams-Franklin made a quick spin move before laying in the winning basket.
Douglas and Shannon Johnson each scored 18 points for the Sun, who snapped a two-game skid.
Miller paced Washington with 13 points and Murriel Page pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds, but the Mystics have lost five straight.
Washington forward Chamique Holdsclaw sat out with a hamstring injury, missing her fifth game in the last three weeks.
