Emmett, who attended a pre-draft camp in Chicago this month, told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal that his decision should not be a surprise.
"The decision wasn't hard at all," Emmett told the paper. "I already had my mind made up. I just went to the camps to test the waters and gain experience for the future."
The 6-5 native of Dallas also told the paper that he has been welcomed back by Coach Bob Knight, who reportedly did not think Emmett was ready for the pros.
""There's a lot of a deficiencies in his game, and Andre recognizes that," assistant coach Bob Beyer told the Dallas Morning News. "Coming back will help him be a more complete player."
Emmett led the Big 12 in scoring last year with 21.8 points per game.
