Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

NEW YORK, June 19 (UPI) -- Forward Carlos Ruiz of the Los Angeles Galaxy Thursday was suspended two games and fined $1,000 by Major League Soccer.
The suspension was for his actions in a match against the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday.
Ruiz elbowed Carey Talley in an aerial play, causing an orbital fracture to the Wizards defender. Ruiz will not play at the MetroStars on Saturday and at Colorado on June 25.
Talley will be sidelined for at least this weekend's match and be re-evaluated next week.
The Disciplinary Committee of the MLS reached its decision following review of the videotape and interviews with both players.
