PITTSBURGH, June 18 (UPI) -- Jason Kendall delivered a two-run double in the ninth inning Wednesday night as Pittsburgh completed a doubleheader sweep of Montreal with a 4-3 win.
In a 7-2 loss in the first game, Montreal Manager Frank Robinson opted use closer Rocky Biddle in the seventh inning. In the nightcap, Robinson again went to Biddle (3-2), this time to protect a 3-2 lead entering the bottom of the ninth.
Randall Simon greeted Biddle with a single and Matt Stairs lined a base hit into center field before pinch-hitter Jeff Reboulet bunted his way on to load the bases.
Biddle struck out Abraham Nunez on three pitches but Kendall, batting for pitcher Salomon Torres, followed by lacing a 2-0 pitch into the left-center field gap to give the Pirates the victory.
