Team USA to train in New York City

NEW YORK, June 17 (UPI) -- USA Basketball announced Tuesday that the men's national team will train in New York for the Olympic qualifying tournament.

Training will be from Aug. 10-18. The team will play an exhibition game against the Puerto Rican National Team at Madison Square Garden on Aug. 15.

""Puerto Rico is a world class team that is always a tough opponent on the international basketball stage," said Stu Jackson, Chairman of the Senior Men's National team committee. "We look forward to the game at The Garden where fans of USA Basketball and Puerto Rico will provide their support in what promises to be a competitive game in a tremendous atmosphere."

Two-time reigning NBA MVP Tim Duncan, Allen Iverson, and Tracy McGrady are expected to participate in Team USA's workouts, which will be held at John Jay College.

Kobe Bryant is questionable after recent shoulder surgery.

Larry Brown was named Team USA coach in November.
