BROOKLYN, Mich., June 16 (UPI) -- Kurt Busch survived two caution flags to win the NASCAR Winston Cup Sirius 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
Busch claimed his seventh career victory to become the first driver with three wins this season. He also captured the checkered flag in March at Bristol and in April at California.
Labonte, the pole-sitter, finished 0.774 seconds behind Busch, with Jeff Gordon third and Matt Kenseth and Michael Waltrip rounding out the top five.
"It was just a perfect car right at the end of the day," Busch said.
Gordon took the lead on lap 160 when he beat Tony Stewart out of the pits during the sixth caution period of the afternoon. He remained up front until Busch passed him with 23 laps to go.
Busch had to survive caution stretches on laps 178 and 191.
