BIRMINGHAM, England, June 15 (UPI) -- Bulgarian Magdalena Maleeva captured her first title on grass Sunday by winning the DFS Classic.

A 15-year veteran of the WTA Tour, Maleeva has won a tournament on every surface after a 6-1, 6-4 victory over surprise finalist Shinobu Asagoe of Japan.

Maleeva needed just 65 minutes to claim her 10th career title. She went one better than her older sister Manuela, who reached the final here but lost to Pam Shriver.

Magdalena Maleeva is feeling good about her grasscourt game heading into Wimbledon, where she has reached the fourth round the last two years.

The 28-year-old will play next week in Eastbourne, having climbed back up to No. 12, her highest ranking since Oct. 27, 1996.
