DETROIT, June 15 (UPI) -- Jay Payton hit a two-run homer and Mark Sweeney added a three-run double Sunday as Colorado rallied for a 5-4 victory over Detroit.
The Rockies trailed, 2-0, heading to the fifth, but Brent Butlersingled with one out. One out later, Payton hit a 1-1 pitch from Tigers starter Gary Knotts (2-5) for his ninth home run.
Todd Helton followed with a single, Larry Walker doubled and Greg Norton walked before Sweeney cleared the bases to give Colorado a three-run lead.
Dmitri Young hit his 13th homer in the sixth and Warren Morris pulled Detroit within a run an inning later with an RBI single, but the Tigers left the tying run in scoring position in the eighth and ninth.
Helton collected three hits for the Rockies, who won a series on the road for the first time since last August.
